Alaska Classics lecture to focus on glaciology

Ever wonder what books are best for learning about glaciology in Alaska? Bruce Molnia will offer guidance at the free Alaska Classics lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11.

The event is part of the fourth annual Alaska Book Festival. Molnia is a research geologist at the United States Geological Survey department. He’s currently a research affiliate at the Prince William Sound Science Center in Cordova and an affiliate professor at the University of Idaho.

Most of his research has been in Alaska, and he’s authored, co-authored or edited more than 200 articles, abstracts, maps and books. His books include “Glaciers of Alaska,” “Glacial-Marine Sedimentation” and “Alaska’s Glaciers.”

All Alaska Classics lectures will be held in the Schaible Auditorium on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. For information call 474-7021.
