A March 7 presentation at the University of Alaska Fairbanks will focus on radon, which has been detected in a number of Fairbanks homes at levels the Environmental Protection Agency considers unsafe.

Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that has been linked to lung cancer. Energy specialist Art Nash and retired professor Rich Seifert of the UAF Cooperative Extension Service will talk about where radon comes from and how to detect and mitigate it. They will also address how to build new housing that is radon-resistant. Free home testing kits will be distributed.

The talk will begin at 6:15 p.m. in Schaible Auditorium.

For more information, contact Nash at 907-474-6366 or alnashjr@alaska.edu.
