2019 Beat Beethoven T-shirtSpring is in the air and the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra is hosting the 25th annual Beat Beethoven 5K race fundraiser on Saturday, April 13, at 11 am. Participants run the course on the Fairbanks campus, trying to cross the finish line before the last note of the Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

Don Kiely will act as the paceman, dressed as the old composer. If you Beat Beethoven, you'll win a voucher good for a Fairbanks Symphony concert during the 2019-20 concert season. Early bird registration goes through April 8, when the fees go up. A commemorative race T-shirt is available for the first 950 registered runners and walkers.

Bib and T-shirt pickup is Monday, April 8, from 5-7 p.m. in the Patty Center lobby.

Register for the race on the FSO website. Not a runner? You can still participate by parking along the race route with a car radio or portable boombox so runners can hear the music throughout the course and so you can cheer them on! To volunteer your car's sound system, please send a message to grydlinski@alaska.edu and we'll assign a location along the race route for you and your friends!
