UAF raised over $30,000 for the American Heart Association as part of the 2019 Heart Walk, more than twice what was raised in 2018. UAF came in second among the organizations that joined this year's efforts.

Eleven teams represented the university in the fundraising event. The top team, "Gee Wiz," was led by team captain Jami Warrick and raised $8,769. The second-place team, the "UAF Fire Walkers" lea by Doug Schrage, brought in $4,723, followed by a close third from "CEM's Heartbeat Hotel," led by Vicky Wolf at $4,675.

In addition to the top teams, there were three "top walkers," led by Jackie Dashiell of "Gee Wiz," who raised $1,795, Vicky Wolf of "CEM's Heartbeat Hotel" with $1,439 and Courtney Pagh of "We are CLA" bringing in $1,295.

There was also a drawing for a raffle ticket fundraiser.
