The new University of Alaska Fairbanks Testing Center on Eielson Air Force Base will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. at 2623 Wabash Avenue. UAF Chancellor Steve Jones and Col. John G. Stutts, commander of the 354th Fighter Wing Mission Support Group, will commence the ceremonies.

The center, which is supported by the UAF Tanana Valley Campus Northern Military Programs, will serve airmen by providing College Level Examination Program and Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support examinations, known as CLEP and DANTES exams, respectively. These examinations are designed to give equivalency credit for college classes. Students can choose from more than 50 examinations in a variety of subject areas. Examinations are administered via the computer and the results are instantaneous, which helps students develop their educational plan.

Examinations are available to the military and civilian community. CLEP and DANTES examinations are free for military members.

The creation of the center has been a cooperative effort of UAF’s Testing Services, Tanana Valley Campus northern military programs, UA’s military programs and Eielson’s Education Center.
