Chancellor search update
April 10, 2026
The University of Alaska Fairbanks Chancellor Advisory Search Committee has made strong progress in its work. The national search attracted a robust applicant pool of more than 50 highly qualified candidates, reflecting significant interest in leading UAF.
Following a thorough review of applications, the WittKieffer team worked with the committee to narrow the field of candidates. The process will continue with two intensive days of Zoom interviews. These interviews will inform the recommendation of finalists who will advance to the next stage of the process.
Once finalists are identified and invited for on‑campus visits, the university will release a full professional bio for each candidate, along with details of their planned visit schedules. Based on current timing, we anticipate finalist candidates will visit the Fairbanks campus in early May.
During their campus visits, each candidate will participate in an open forum, meet with UAF leadership and key constituent groups, and tour campus facilities. These visits will provide the university community with meaningful opportunities to engage with candidates and offer feedback.
Additional updates will be shared as the search continues.
