Canning Meat in Jars

Pressure canning is a safe and efficient way to preserve nutritious foods. Unfortunately, many people are intimidated by pressure canning. This class will discuss the methods of heat processing low acid food in jars, use and care of a pressure canner, methods of preparing meat, fish, and vegetables to place in jars, making stock and soup. Determining the canned product is correctly processed and sealed and storage of canned food will also be covered in this class.

This class will be held on Zoom, distance delivery so you can join on your phone or computer from a convenient location. If you are not available at the time the class is live, still register and you will receive a recording of the presentation afterward.

Winter Gardening: Microgreens and Herb Gardening

In the winter months, we all miss the freshness of our local farmers markets from the summer, but what can we do? We have ideas for you! Join Theresa and Ann as we share ideas and instructions on how to easily grow your own microgreens and herbs inside your home. We will meet in the Blue Room which is located on the first floor of Kerttula Hall, take an immediate left as you enter the building.

Holiday Open House

Mark your calendars and join us for our Open House on December 8th!

We know Christmas feels like a long way off but it is fast approaching! We are preparing for our open house on December 8th, in conjunction with Palmer's Colony Christmas weekend. This will be a great family friendly outing with lots of games, activities, and opportunities to learn about the work we are doing. We will have extension agents and staff here to answer questions and hand out information. Join us for some hot chocolate, cookies, pony rides, caroling, tree lighting, and much more. Stop by anytime between 4-6 PM
