Student Commencement Speaker

Each spring, the ASUAF Student Commencement Speaker Committee selects a graduating student to give an address during UAF's spring commencement ceremony. The committee--made up of three students, one ASUAF Senator, one communications faculty member, one representative from the Student Leadership and Involvement office, ASUAF advisor and one representative from the commencement planning committee--solicits nominations from any UAF community member and accepts applications from any fall, spring or summer graduate at any degree level (associate, baccalaureate, masters or Ph.D.). 

Nominations may be made by any member of the UAF community at https://forms.gle/1vD2BgFJC7M28FdM6.

Nominations must be received by March 3, 2023. 
Fall 2022 and spring or summer 2023 graduates may apply at https://forms.gle/tZ4DrhxEANvDVuj86.

Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m., March 10, 2023. 
Candidates for student commencement speaker must be in good conduct and academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher). 

A conduct check will be conducted through the Center for Student Rights and Responsibilities to ensure the student speaker is a positive representative of UAF. Examples of unacceptable conduct may include having been found responsible for academic misconduct, bullying, harassment or discrimination. 

Students from any UAF campus are encouraged to apply. 

Students at all degree levels (associate, baccalaureate, masters or Ph.D.) are encouraged to apply. 

The student commencement speaker must be a fall 2022, spring 2023 or summer 2023 graduate.
