Marketing and Communications is a division of University Advancement.

What does Marketing and Communications do?

Marketing and Communications leads the efforts to craft and communicate institutional messages. These include UAF print and electronic publications for student recruiting, general information and internal and external communications, as well as coordination of the chancellor's messages, directives and presentations.

Marketing

Marketing and Communications provides marketing assistance and strategies to help the university strengthen enrollment, enhance the UAF reputation with alumni and donors, and to advance and support the university’s strategic goals.

Media relations

Through positive, accurate and timely media relations activities, Marketing and Communications strives to increase the university's visibility throughout the community, state, nation and world. The media relations office works closely with all the public information offices throughout campus to disseminate information in a coordinated and consistent fashion, building positive awareness of UAF, and serves as a central point of contact for media pursuing coverage of the university.

Photography

Marketing and Communications maintains an expanding collection of quality photographs showcasing the people, facilities and activities at UAF.

Publications

Marketing and Communications produces print and electronic publications for student recruiting, fundraising, general information and internal and external communications. Printed copies of publications are available on request or you may browse our publications portfolio.

Web development

Marketing and Communications creates and maintains a variety of UAF websites for student service, faculty and staff communications, and public and alumni relations.

Crisis communications

Marketing and Communications is the lead communicator in the event of a crisis affecting the wellbeing of UAF students, faculty and staff on campus and extending to UAF community campuses if applicable. Working in concert with UAF's emergency response team, we maintain the Nanook Hotline, the "UAF on Alert" website, and other communication tools to effectively communicate with UAF constituencies and the media in a timely manner.

Institutional identity

Marketing and Communications maintains a set of guidelines to assist university departments with creating publications and disseminating information. The UAF graphic standards, web guidelines and editorial style guide provide guidance on how to create and maintain a high level of quality, consistency and professionalism for electronic and print publications.
