Ms. Kari van Delden

Professor of Extension, Emerita

WHEREAS Ms. Kari van Delden served the University of Alaska Fairbanks with distinction in teaching and public service from 2004 to 2017; and

WHEREAS Ms. van Delden was the Extension Agent for the UAF Cooperative Extension Service’s Northwest District, where she taught with passion and dedication, developing and delivering programming on many topics including child development, cultural identity, equity, and violence prevention; and

WHEREAS Ms. van Delden created numerous extension publications and used mass media to provide information to wider audiences; and

WHEREAS Ms. van Delden provided valuable professional and public service, including several leadership roles for the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences, statewide board member for the Alaska Association for Infant Mental Health, and membership on community committees including the Task Force on Social Justice and Kawerak Wellness Forum; and WHEREAS Ms. van Delden earned awards in recognition of her service, including the Living Well Award from the Western Region Association of Family and Consumer Sciences;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Ms. Kari van Delden for her extensive contributions to the State of Alaska and to the University; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the University of Alaska Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Ms. van Delden and as evidence of the University’s desire that her identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Ms. Kari van Delden as Professor of Extension, Emerita; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the Chancellor of the University of Alaska Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Ms. Kari van Delden, and conveyed to Ms. van Delden on this 4th day of May, 2018.
