CASR education and training is not limited to professional training modules and classroom curricula. The center envisions a web-based presence that will increase public education and awareness about hazards planning and emergency response, building on the role and resources of UAF as a land, sea, and space grant university. Through the appropriate use of web-based infrastructure and social media, CASR will provide a wealth of information on and visual understanding of the conditions, capabilities, and plans of stakeholders for emergency operations. This ensures that the general public is well informed and can engage meaningfully in policy discourse as the world must address growing populations in hazardous locations, climate change, and political instability and conflict.
