What OIPC offers:

The Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization works with UAF faculty, staff, and students to facilitate and protect UAF's innovative activities and bring the results into public use.


OIPC:

  • assists faculty, staff, and students in sharing the results of their creative efforts
  • protects and manages the University's intellectual property assets
  • transfers new knowledge and technologies for the benefit of the public
  • supports UAF employees and students through intellectual property education
  • commercializes the results of University research for the creation of new, improved products

Seed Funding Awards

The Office of Intellectual Property and Commercialization would like to announce the solicitation for “Innovation Seed Awards”. UAF faculty and staff are eligible to submit proposals to receive an innovation seed grant for up to $10,000. Innovation seed awards are intended to aid inventors in mid to late stage technology development at UAF. Proposals will be evaluated and awarded on a competitive basis. Three awards will be made in FY 13.

Applications will be accepted immediately through May 14, 2012. Applications should be no more than four pages in length and should include purpose, previous research, and a proposed budget, including other sources of available funding. Full-time staff should include a letter of support from their supervisor. Applications should be submitted electronically to Mary Bellamy at OIPC in the Denali Building at 3352 College Road or email mvbellamy@alaska.edu. All awarded funding should be spent by December 31, 2013. A brief post-award report about how the seed funding enhanced UAF technology development will be required no later than 30 days beyond the end of the award.
