The University of Alaska Fairbanks Fire Department is one of the few campuses in the United States that operates with paid staff and full-time Student Firefighters. UFD serves the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus, but also a large off-campus fire service area in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Student Firefighters are required to maintain at least 12 credit hours each semester and a minimum 2.0 G.P.A.

UFD Mission

The University Fire Department exists to provide effective fire, rescue, and emergency medical services while preparing student employees for leadership in emergency services.
