Degree: A.A.S.

Minimum Requirements for Degree: 60 credits

The applied accounting program prepares students for entry-level accounting positions in payables and/or receivables, bookkeeping and payroll accounting. This program covers financial decision-making tools for the small business operator as well. The courses in this program address the concerns of modern business people and provide the training necessary to enhance success in business. Many classes are scheduled in the evening in order to accommodate working students. Microcomputer and office technology labs are available for "hands on" training.

Undergraduate Degree Requirements

Applied Accounting -- A.A.S. Degree

  1. Complete the following general university and A.A.S. requirements:

    Communications:
    ENGL 111X and ENGL 211X, 212*, or 213X (6 credits)
    COMM 131X or 141X (3 credits)

    Mathematics or Natural Science:
    A math or natural science course at the 100 level or above (3 credits)

    Humanities, social sciences, mathematics, natural science or Perspectives on the Human Condition (3 credits)
  2. Complete the following major degree requirements:
    BA 151 -- Introduction to Business (3 credits)
    CIOS 150 or CIOS 200+ level computer course (3 credits)
    ACCT 161 -- Accounting Concepts and Uses I (3 credits)
    ACCT 262 -- Accounting Concepts and Uses II (3 credits)
    ABUS 141 -- Payroll Accounting (2 credits)
    ABUS 142 -- Office Accounting (2 credits)
    ABUS 154 -- Human Relations (3 credits)
