Even if you can't make reunion, you can join us in the parade

Help represent UAF in the 2019 Golden Days Grande Parade on Saturday, July 20. UAF’s parade entry will be a large float pulled by a University Fire Department fire truck.

This year’s theme is Picks, Pokes and Golden Folks.

Employees, students and alumni are welcome to walk in the parade and will receive a gold T-shirt to wear.

The UAF parade float entry received the best non-commercial award in the Kinross Fort Knox Golden Days Grande Parade, July 22, 2017.
Please be sure to sign up as well as submit your waiver. Parents of minors will need to fill out an additional form from the Chamber of Commerce. They need to be turned in no later than 8:30 a.m. the day of the parade. We are required to have an accurate count of minors participating.

Be sure to indicate your T-shirt size, as we'd like our walkers to wear the gold Nanook Nation T-shirts, in keeping with this year's theme, Picks, Pokes and Golden Folks.

Email forms to: uaf-univ-relations@alaska.edu

Parade participants should arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Judging is at 8:45 a.m. Please arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. to get positioned before the parade begins at 10 a.m. There is no parking at the Carlson Center. You will park at Ryan Middle School and take a shuttle to the Carlson Center, so please allow enough time to get there.

During the parade:
  • Water will be available on the float to fill up your water bottles.
  • Interact with the crowd. We will have stickers for you to hand out.
  • We'd love to have a few people on the float! Let us know if you want to ride the route.
  • Afterward, you will be dropped off in the Co-op grocery store parking lot and can catch a shuttle back.
Please note: The parade float is part of the Nanook Rendezvous alumni reunion and is paid for with private funds.
