Alaska Alpine Club and Climbing Wall

The Alaska Alpine Club is a student organization that works in collaboration with Outdoor Adventures in an effort to get more students into the mountains. The members of the club offer courses in Ski Mountaineering, manage the climbing wall, assist with the annual Winter Gear Swap and earn discounts on rentals at Outdoor Adventures. Check out the web-site for more information - http://www.alaska-alpine-club.com/

Climbing Wall

The Alpine Club maintains a climbing wall located with the SRC. The wall just underwent a large renovation made possible by ASUAF, SRC Board and Wall membership fees. Thanks to everyone for their hardwork and patience in making this new wall success.

Want to climb?

Everyone who climbs on the wall at the SRC must be certified by an approved AAC instructor. Student who have been certified in years past, must be re-certified on the new wall. Course schedules are available at the SRC front desk and offered at a variety of times throughout the week and semester. You can call them at 474-7205. If no courses are scheduled, call Mark at the Outdoor Adventures to schedule a class or e-mail Stan Justice at ffsrj@uaf.edu.

  • Certification Courses cost $10 and expire after 4 years. This course lasts about an hour depending on attendance.
  • Re-Certification Courses cost $5 if no instruction is required. The course last about 30 minutes and you must have your old purple certification card.

All climbers must wear their orange certification while climbing. Bouldering is approved only when climbing below the yellow line.

Climbing of the rock wall is privilege, please respect it and be safe.
