Moose Mountain Shuttle

9:00am                 - Meet at Outdoor Adventures by the SRC

10:00am               - Arrive at Moose Mountain and get skiing or snowboarding

3:00pm                 - Load up and head back to UAF

4:00pm                 - Return to Outdoor Adventures

 

Trip description:

Start your weekend off right by hitting the slopes!  Moose Mountain is a ski resort situated just outside of Fairbanks with a variety of runs, and often benefits from a temperature inversion (warmer there than in town).  OA is providing transportation to the mountain and a day pass.

 

Things to bring:

  • Skis or Snowboard, Boots, Poles, helmet (available to rent at Moose Mountain for $45)
  • Day pass (can be purchased at the mountain or online, $45 for students
  • Thinner Wool Socks
  • Daypack - to carry food, water and spare clothes for the day
  • Warm (non-cotton) clothes
    • Base layer; top and bottom
    • Fleece jacket / pants
    • Hard shell snow pants and jacket to repel water and wind
    • Light puffy coat
    • Hat (that can fit under a helmet), 2-gloves and/or mittens
    • Neck gaiter/balaclava
  • Goggles
  • Lunch and snacks
  • Water bottle

 

 

Refund Policy:

Payment in full is required to sign up for a trip.  A 100% refund is available if you notify the Outdoor Adventures office of the cancellation more than two weeks (14 days) before the first day of the trip.  Cancellation one week to 3 days (13 to 3 days) before the trip entitles the participant to a 50% refund. No refund is provided if the participant does not show up or cancels 2 days prior to the trip.

 

Safety and Risk Management:

Due to the nature of outdoor travel there are certain inherent risks in all of Outdoor Adventures’ trips.  Acceptable risks include natural and manmade hazards found on the ski hill.  Hazards present due to other skiers and snowboarders on the hill, changing weather conditions or failure of a skier to ski within their ability.  Driving risks may include slick and snowy roads, poor visibility, and wildlife.  Please note that trip cancellations are possible with temperatures colder than -10F.  It is important to recognize that you are voluntarily participating in this activity. There are risks inherent in outdoor pursuits, by choosing to participate, you agree that you appreciate and accept responsibility for these risks.  Alaska is a wild place - you need to take ultimate responsibility for your own safety as only you can. For your protection we require you to carry health Insurance. You can purchase insurance for $2.60/day from the University (ask for details).
