The fall 2021 New Student Orientation schedule is now live! As we transition toward a fall semester that hopefully feels a bit more normal, NSO organizers want to remind faculty and staff of the importance of the programming that happens during a student's first week on the Troth Yeddha' Campus.

New Student Orientation will run from Wednesday, Aug. 18 through Sunday, Aug. 22. A full schedule of events can be found here.

Orientation is required for all first-year bachelor’s degree students (regardless of the number of earned college credits) and international students (undergraduate F-1 and international exchange J-1 status).

New Student Orientation helps new students transition to our institution; prepares them for UAF's educational opportunities and their responsibilities; and helps integrate them into UAF's intellectual, cultural and social climate. NSO's workshops and activities address the needs of incoming students, including campus tours, opportunities to meet faculty and staff, campus resource presentations, and many fun social events.

These programs are a key step in the persistence and retention of students at any institution. You can help by talking with students about this required event, and that there is a lot to gain by participating.

For more information, contact Logan Elliott, student activities and orientation coordinator, at 474-6295 or visit the NSO website.
