Phyllis Morrow, Interim Dean

The College of Liberal Arts (CLA) provides graduate and undergraduate degree programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences, as well as much of the UAF baccalaureate core curriculum and a variety of outreach programs. The faculty and staff of CLA recognize the importance both of new teaching technologies and of student access to senior professors in small class environments. The college offers an excellent liberal arts education with strengths in circumpolar teaching, research, service, and a particular focus on Alaska Native peoples and languages.

Undergraduate degrees offered by CLA include 22 bachelor of arts (B.A.), three bachelor of science (B.S.), one bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.), one bachelor of music (B.M.), and one bachelor of technology (B.T.). Graduate degrees include six master of arts (M.A.), two master of fine arts (M.F.A.), and one doctorate (Ph.D.). The college also offers minors in Asian Studies, Film Studies, Law and Society, Military Science and Women's Studies.

Also housed within the college are the Alaska Native Language Center, the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies, the UAF Honors Program, KUAC and Library Science.
