FREN 103 (3 Credits) As Demand Warrants Conversational French I (3+0) h Oral skills improvement. Includes group work, presentations, skits, discussions and vocabulary to improve speaking on specific topics. (Prerequisites: FREN 102 or equivalent or permission of instructor. Does not satisfy core curriculum or foreign language major requirements.) FREN 201 (3 Credits) Fall FREN 202 (3 Credits) Spring Intermediate French I and II (3+0) h Continuation of FREN 102. FREN 431W (3 Credits) Alternate Fall Studies in the Culture of the French Speaking World (3+0) h Intensive study of selected aspects of the culture of the French speaking world. FREN 432W (3 Credits) Alternate Fall Studies of French Literature (3+0) h Intensive study of authors, literary texts, movements, genres, themes and/or critical approaches. FREN 434W (3 Credits) As Demand Warrants La Litterature Quebecoise (3+0) h In-depth study of a variety of French language literature from Quebec as well as from other Canadian provinces. Examination of the historical and cultural events which have influenced this literature. Taught entirely in French. (Prerequisite: FREN 302 or equivalent, or permission of instructor.) FREN 482W (3 Credits) As Demand Warrants Selected Topics in French (3+0) h Intensive course focusing on topics not covered in FREN 431 or FREN 432. (Prerequisites: FREN 302 or equivalent; junior standing, or permission of instructor. Course may be repeated for credit if topic varies.) FREN 488 (3 Credits) As Demand Warrants Individual Study: Senior Project h Designed for the student to demonstrate ability to work with the language and the culture through the analysis and presentation, in the language, of a problem chosen by the student in consultation with the department. The student must apply for senior project and submit a project outline by the end of the 6th week of the semester preceding the semester of graduation. Conducted in French.
