Summer Sessions courses are a great way to get acquainted with Fairbanks in the short but fabulous summer months while also taking courses and starting on the road to your degree. In order to start your journey, you will have to have an account with the University of Alaska Fairbanks. To get started, contact UAF Admissions.

If you need housing for summer, UAF Residence Life has housing available.
Registering for Summer Sessions courses is as easy as going to your UAOnline account and registering like you do for your Fall and Spring courses.
Please note: All degree-seeking undergraduate students and new graduate students must consult an advisor before registering for 2020 summer classes. Meeting regularly with an academic advisor helps students identify classes necessary on their path to graduation. Such classes include those required for specific degrees, prerequisites for future classes and other offerings that a student may not have considered.

Depending on where you are in your studies abroad, your registration process will differ.
If you have any questions or concerns about attending UAF as an International student, contact the Office of International Programs & Initiatives.
Under current immigration regulations, students on F-1 visa status may take courses at other U.S. schools without additional immigration authorization.
Follow the instructions for New and Out of State students to register for courses.
Form I-20 Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Status for use in applying for
the F-1 (student) visa will be issued to qualified international students who are
admitted to the University of Alaska Fairbanks to take at least 12 credits during
Early application is advisable as space in courses is limited. Application deadline is March 16. Please let the Summer Sessions office know of your plans as soon as you decide to apply. Summer Sessions will work with you throughout the application process.

Original documents are not necessary to approve your application. Scan and email the required documents to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to mark out all but the last two digits of any identifying numbers such as bank accounts.
If you are applying as part of an institutional group, you should send your application form to your group contact.
All international students in F1 and J1 status are required to have health insurance while attending UAF and will be billed for insurance at the start of the semester. If you have comparable health insurance, you may request a waiver using this form.
Once you are formally accepted to UAF, the Office of International Programs & Initiatives will send your official letter of admission and your immigration documents (Form I-20).
