Driving

EMPLOYEE
As an employee of UAF you will need to take Driver's Training and fill out a Category I or Category II form before you drive a UAF vehicle.  There may be other requirements for driving associated with your job, please check with your supervisor.  

VOLUNTEERS AND AFFILIATE DRIVERS
UAF requires that you fill out a Driving Waiver and attach all requirements requested in the waiver form.  This will include a DMR check, completion of the Driver's Training, and if an affiliate a certificate of insurance (COI) from your home institution, among other items listed on the waiver form.  Once all items are completed and attached to the form, please scan and send to brcruz@alaska.edu and fisgrigg@alaska.edu for review and determination of approval for your request to drive a UAF vehicle.

NEW TRAVEL ADVISORY PROGRAM
On January 10, 2017, the Department of State released its new Travel Advisory Program. The primary focus of the new plan is to revamp the Consular Information Program which is the department’s cornerstone in keeping U.S. citizens safe while they travel or live abroad.  You can find additional information here and look under the Ts for Travel Advisory Program. 

ASSISTANCE AND INSURANCE COVERAGE
Employees traveling internationally have access to AIG's pretravel planning assistance. Here you have access to immunizations, legal services, medical assistance and evacuation and repatriation information. Go to: AIG to see what coverage and assistance you have available to you.
