MCC’s measuring strips represent a physical model of fractions through measuring. In some ways, they can be seen as individual rulers with a standard unit of a particular fraction depending on which measuring strip you are using. In comparing different lengths from different measuring strips, you and your students will unveil how to perform many different fraction operations through measuring.
MCC’s number lines represent a fraction counting system that go in sync with the measuring strips. Every number line is the same length as each measuring strip and marked with each fraction, providing mathematical support to our measuring approach and allowing your classroom to compare and contrast any length’s fraction equivalence.
