The awards keep piling up for University of Alaska Fairbanks basketball standout Brad Oleson.

The junior basketball star from North Pole, Alaska has already been recognized for several honors this season, including Player of the Year in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and all-tournament honors at the NCAA Division II West Regional Championship.

Oleson's latest honor, however, will come this weekend when North Pole City Mayor Jeff Jacobsen will name Saturday, April 24 as Brad Oleson Day.

The recognition will come during the Second Annual UAF Day at North Pole/Taste of North Pole Celebration, which will be held at the North Pole Plaza Mall. The reading and presentation of the resolution to Oleson will take place around 3 p.m.

Oleson, who graduated from North Pole High School in 2001, helped the Nanooks finish the 2003-04 season with a 23-7 record and a spot in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship.
