At the May 22 Board of Regents meeting, President Pitney recognized the winners of
this year's "Staff Makes Student Count Awards," which celebrate staff from each university
and the System Office who have made a difference in students' lives.
During his tenure, UAF's external research portfolio more than doubled to over $200
million annually as he led the university through a series of challenges and returned
the institution to enrollment growth over the last two years.
The position is responsible for serving as the primary liaison between the board,
university administration, governmental entities, and the public. Fisher has served
as special assistant to University of Alaska President Pat Pitney since 2020.
The UAF Cooperative Extension Service (Extension) will host Zoom presentations from
three finalists vying to serve as the program's new director. Extension serves some
50,000 Alaskans annually, serving many communities by interpreting and extending relevant
university, research-based knowledge to the public.
