President Pitney will provide an update on the State of the University, and how UA is empowering Alaska's workforce pipeline, at the Alaska Chamber's Legislative Fly-In Luncheon in Juneau at 11:30 a.m. The event will be live-streamed.

Disability Services (DS) offices across the state continue to offer free virtual training sessions to UA staff and faculty on a range of essential topics. JAN 27: Working with students who present challenges can be demanding, but that's often where the most meaningful progress happens. FEB 25: Gain valuable information about how you can better include students with intellectual disabilities through your role on campus. UA DS will also be hosting a special Cyber Coffee Chat on January 28th.

Livestream of February Regents' meeting won't be available

Livestreaming of the February 20-21, 2025, Board of Regents Meeting at the Kenai River Campus (KRC) will not be available. The meeting will still be recorded and made available afterward, but space and technical restrictions mean a quality livestream won't be available.

Credential harvesting is an attack that tricks a user into entering their credentials into a fraudulent form, which is often designed to imitate a trusted login page. The form link is often delivered via email or text, but could also be delivered via a malicious QR code.

Professor Laura Conner appointed UAF's interim vice chancellor for research

In addition to her research faculty position, Conner currently serves as associate director of the UAF Geophysical Institute. She has a doctorate in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Arizona. Her work since earning her doctorate in 2007 has focused on education research, including science identity and interdisciplinary learning at the boundary of art and science. She will start her new position on Jan. 12.
