Top-ranking high school seniors from nearly 225 high schools across Alaska will graduate
this month as part of the University of Alaska's 25th cohort of UA Scholars, each
qualifying for a $12,000 scholarship.
The next steps include approval by the University Board of Regents, the Department
of Administration, and ratification of the contract by AGWA bargaining unit members.
The request will then be submitted to the legislature for funding approval this session.
UAA student and current Board of Regents Student Regent Albiona Selimi has been announced
as a Truman Scholar. The Truman Scholarship is the premier graduate scholarship for
aspiring public service leaders in the United States.
On April 30, the National Academy of the Sciences announced 120 new members, including
Interim Director of UAF's Institute of Arctic Biology Diane O'Brien.
