UA students, staff, and faculty from around the state have been participating in the
2023 Alaska Federation of Natives Convention. UAF College of Fisheries and Ocean Science
(CFOS) faculty member Dr. Courtney Carothers received AFN's 2023 Denali Award.
The initial days as a new university employee, when people are shaping their perceptions
of university work life, meeting their supervisor and colleagues, and settling into
the new work space, is the key time for us to emphasize our commitment to compliance.
OCR attorney Rhonda Collins will present on considerations for OCR accessibility resolutions
on October 26. Disability Services (DS) offices across the state are offering free
monthly virtual training sessions covering a variety of essential DS topics.

All university employees must complete annual Title IX training. The online course
is based on the latest version of university policy and guided by Federal mandates.
University of Alaska system staff, students and faculty are invited to a virtual Town
Hall with UA President Pat Pitney, on Tuesday, October 24, from 1-2 p.m via Zoom or
by watching the livestream.
Public testimony, November 7, is held in advance of the board's November 9 committee
meetings and full board meeting on November 10 on the UAA campus in Anchorage.
