On August 3, UA President Pat Pitney shared brief remarks about the university's economic
impact on Alaska at the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation's 3-year outlook
luncheon. Her speech focused on how integral the university, and UAA in particular,
is to Anchorage.
On July 28, 2022, through the mediation process, our bargaining team received a proposal
from the UNAC faculty union responding to the proposal the administration offered
on July 11.
For the past two decades, a collaboration within the UA system has been improving
health, reducing illness and disability, and building a pipeline of future biomedical
and behavioral health researchers in Alaska.

Through private donations, the Ukrainian Student Support fund will provide financial
assistance for tuition and related expenses to college students from Ukraine who demonstrate
financial need and plan to attend the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), including
any of its community campuses or colleges.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks named its engineering building for UAF alumnus,
philanthropist and miner Joseph E. Usibelli at a ceremony Aug. 4.
UAS is a proud partner, in conjunction with the City & Borough of Juneau and other
local, state and federal entities, to host the first ever IRONMAN triathlon in AK.
