Update on the University Budget and CBA Negotiations

On June 16 President Pitney provided a brief update on UA's budget and the status of negotiations.

Northrim Bank makes a major investment in UA's three universities

A major, long-time supporter of the University of Alaska system, Northrim Bank, has gifted $259,500 to fund UA initiatives that advance research about Alaska's economy and fiscal policy, expand business education and build entrepreneurship capacity. Northrim's donation also includes funding to five community campuses where Northrim employees live and work.

The Board of Regents have scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday June 28 to approve the FY23 budget.

For Alaska, the University of Alaska system's first comprehensive philanthropic campaign, is close to achieving its $200 million goal. We are grateful to each of the more than 18,000 donors who have propelled us forward with their generous contributions. The campaign officially ends in June 2024 making it likely that we will exceed our goal.

New Employee Assistance Program provider beginning on July 1

The university will be switching Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providers from Deer Oaks to ComPsych/Vivacity. Effective July 1, UA employees will need to contact ComPsych for any EAP needs from emotional support for mental health concerns, work-life solutions, to legal guidance, and financial resources.

Final Notice - Use your Leave

For employees who qualify for a Personal Holiday, it must be taken by June 18. Additionally, any unused annual leave in excess of 240 hours will be forfeited after June 30.

Dr. David Tallmon of UAS Receives Fulbright Award for 2022-2023

The University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) is pleased to announce that Dr. David Tallmon, Professor of Biology, has received Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award for his work in "Population Genetics: Identifying the Genetic Basis of Pink Salmon Adaptation Using Population Genomics" for the 2022-2023 academic year.

New documentary film features ISER's prominent first director

Fischer arrived in Alaska in 1950 as a city planner. He immediately immersed himself in his community, and served the state in many capacities. In 1966, Fischer was recruited to be the Institute of Social, Economic and Government Research (ISEGR), now known as ISER and commonly referred to as "the institute of everything."

The University of Alaska Anchorage announced that Ryan Swartwood has been named Athletic Director after serving as the Interim Athletic Director for the past seven months.
