Welcome to Week 6!

Exciting news we’re just minutes away from enjoying a full nine hours of daylight here in the Interior of Alaska, and it feels absolutely wonderful! With each passing day, we are gaining nearly seven minutes of daylight! Spring is just around the corner. Even if it doesn’t feel like it sometimes, trust me those glorious warm and sunny days are coming our way!

Time is flying by, but don’t go wishing your days away! Before you know it, you’ll be halfway through our semester adventure, getting ready for spring break, and then zipping toward the end of the term. It really does go that fast! Now is the time to focus and put your best foot forward. Every little bit of effort you put in each day really counts and builds toward your goals, so stay focused and give it your all!

Speaking of doing your best, have you thought about your plans for midterms? Are you ready to crush them this time around? Reflect on what worked for you in the past and what didn’t hit the mark. Did you study with friends or try out study groups? Did anyone quiz you? Think of it like building your game plan! Just like professional athletes, there’s a lot of science behind what works best for midterms. Check out these 10 ways to beat Mid-Term-Mania from the Princeton Review.

While we're getting everything in order for midterms, don't forget to think about your future! Make sure to swing by Spring Career Fair Week! It’s a fantastic chance to connect with potential employers, explore different career paths and grow your professional network. Here are a few reasons to get excited about it:

  • Networking opportunities: Meet professionals in your field, expand your contacts and build relationships that can help move your career forward.

  • Explore career paths:  Check out various avenues in different industries, discover new interests and find clarity on careers that align with your aspirations

  • Gain insights:  Get valuable knowledge about industry trends and insider perspectives to stay informed for your future

  • Practice communication skills:  Improve your ability to share ideas and engage with different audiences skills that are key in both professional and personal scenarios

  • Get inspired: Draw motivation, creativity and fresh perspectives from the experiences and achievements of others to fuel your journey toward success and fulfillment

Another important thing to do:
