Dear UAF community,

I understand that there are many questions at UAF regarding UA’s restrictive operational status, Phase A of the On-site Operations Plan for the University of Alaska, given that the state lifted many restrictions this week.

The state’s plan allows businesses to open at 100 percent capacity, while our operating status is largely unchanged. Because of the risk factors associated with universities, the systemwide incident management team feels that, for now, this approach safeguards our ability to operate. The UA operational plan is not a static document, however. UAF’s IMT and your leaders are working to get measures in place in order to get consideration to move to Phases B and C. In addition, we may be able to broaden some of the exceptions where certain activities can be done safely even as we remain in Phase A. There will be more to come on this as we discuss options. Thank you for your patience and your concern for the safety of our communities.

As we approach Memorial Day, I would like to take this opportunity to commemorate those who gave their lives in service to our country and to wish all of you a safe and restful holiday weekend.

Thank you for choosing UAF!
