Dear UAF community,

Today, UA President Jim Johnsen announced that the UA system has moved to Phase B of the on-site operations plan.

Most all of UAF is prepared for Phase B, and we have some areas already prepared for Phase C when the system office designates that level. The UAF Incident Management Team is finalizing plans for operating under Phase B.

At this point, units throughout UAF are eligible to submit plans for more on-site operations (Phase B). Those plans will be reviewed by vice chancellors. For those units entirely within a VC’s purview, those leaders may designate Phase B operation. Units can only begin Phase B operations after their plans are approved. A checklist to help units develop their plans will be available on the UAF pages of the COVID-19 website later this week. We will add more information as we finalize UAF's transition plans. Please reach out to your supervisor if you have questions about which phase your unit is in.

In Phase B, most people will still be working remotely. Employees will hear from their supervisors if they should start working on site. A set of revised policies were issued by UA that address some of the issues around travel, face coverings and other operational details. If you are on campus, face coverings are and will continue to be required in non-residential indoor spaces and in other places, such as vehicles, where maintaining at least 6 feet of distance from other people isn’t possible.

Loosening restrictions around COVID-19 places greater responsibility on each member of the UAF community to take steps to keep each other safe. Please make sure you wear face coverings and maintain at least 6 feet of distance between you and others. Wash your hands, cover your cough and stay home if you are sick. And please, if you have any symptoms, even mild ones, call your health care provider or public health center.

Thank you for helping keep our campuses safe, and thank you for choosing UAF.
