Meet the Dean


Dr. Mark Herrmann

Mark earned his undergraduate and master's degrees in agricultural economics from the University of California Davis in 1982 and 1985, respectively, and a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from Washington State University in 1990.



Mark is a fisheries economist and has performed extensive research on Alaska's salmon, halibut, crab, and pollock fisheries. Mark has completed more than 30 externally funded projects for federal and state agencies including the National Marine Fisheries Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, NOAA, and Alaska Sea Grant. He also served on the Scientific and Statistical Committee and the BSAI Crab Plan Team of the North Pacific Fishery Management Council.


History with CBSM

Prior to becoming Dean, Dr. Herrmann was the CBSM Interim and Associate Dean. Dr. Herrmann has been with the College of Business and Security Management for over 30 years.


Dean Responsibilities

As Dean, Mark supervises the various CBSM academic programs. Under his leadership, CBSM has continued to meet the rigorous standards set forth by the professional education community and continues to achieve premier business school accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).


Off Duty

Mark enjoys fishing and coaching youth baseball during the summers. He and his wife Diane have three sons: Jake, Ben and Dylan.
