Bristol Bay Environmental Science Laboratory (BBESL) is part of UAF Bristol Bay Campus, and is located in Dillingham Alaska, where the Nushagak and Wood Rivers meet Bristol Bay. BBESL provides access to the rich estuary systems around Bristol Bay and to the vast network of lakes and rivers of Wood-Tikchik State Park. Located approximately 50 miles from Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, 75 miles from Walrus Islands and 100 miles from Katmai National Park, BBESL is ideally located for any number of wilderness activities in southwest Alaska.

Bristol Bay Environmental Science Laboratory (BBESL) was established in 2007 to serve the biology and environmental science needs for the Bristol Bay region. We are your neighborhood science lab! Our mission is to increase science literacy and to provided the knowledge and skills necessary for individuals to take an active role in the management of the natural resources in and around Bristol Bay. In 2009, we launched the Sustainable Energy Initiative. BBESL now consisits of two branches: Ecosystem Health and Sustainable Energy.
