BIO
Alexis Francisco is in her senior year at UAF, studying electrical engineering with a concentration in power and control.
She was a 2022 ACEP Summer Undergraduate Intern on the Railbelt Decarbonization Project. She focused on a technology deep dive on solar photovoltaic (PV) energy, which included researching potential utility-scale PV development sites and resource availability along the Alaska Railbelt. She also learned modeling techniques that can be applied not only along the Railbelt but also in Alaska’s remote villages and in other countries.
Francisco continues to work for ACEP as a student researcher, collecting solar resources in power system simulator for engineering (PSS/E), and checking the modeled power system’s stability criteria.
