Choose what you would like to support
We respect that giving is a personal decision, and we each have our own reasons for supporting UAF. Ultimately, your participation is a vote of confidence in the university, our students and their future and we encourage donors to consider ways of giving that best match the impact they want to have.
Beyond the UAF's fundraising initiatives and UAF's general needs, we encourage donors to give to what they would like to impact in a way that meets their priorities. Staff from UAF Development and Alumni Relations are readily available to present options that match donor affinity. In addition to the individual schools, colleges and research institutes on campus, support for the University of Alaska Museum of the North, UAF Athletics, the Elmer E. Rasmuson and Biosciences Libraries, and Georgeson Botanical Gardens all provide options for donors to consider and depend on the support of alumni and friends to sustain their excellence. Learn more about these opportunities by contacting UAF Development and Alumni Relations.
Scholarships, Fellowships and student awards have an incredible impact on our Nanook Nation! We believe that enhanced student aid, through restricted or unrestricted gifts, helps retain the most talented of students. With fewer financial concerns, these students can focus chiefly on their studies, thereby reaching their full potential. Giving by way of a scholarship or fellowship may come in the form of creating something new, or through a gift to an existing fund.
UAF’s partnerships with corporations and foundations allows theories, research, and learning that begins in the classrooms or laboratories to be propelled into real-world projects and experience, which makes a difference to society. UAF is built on these long lasting partnerships.
Within Alaska, the job opportunities that are presented to our graduates and Alumni by local industries create a generation of employees that is knowledgeable and skilled in addressing the critical issues that we face in Alaska and at high latitudes. Beyond Alaska is a network of Alumni and friends who make a tremendous difference within the US and around the world.
Planned gifts, such as trusts and annuities, strengthen the university and provide income to you or your family. You can also benefit UAF through your will.
Whether through a gift to the Annual fund for general use, a new or existing scholarship donation, a gift in memoriam is a meaningful way to honor a friend or family member.
Unrestricted gifts from alumni, employees and friends go to work right away to help provide a top-notch education that makes UAF’s public education as good as a private one. The Annual Giving program is one way that donors can help sustain and enhance the university's distinctive academic programs. You may hear from the university by mail or phone asking for donations to the Annual Fund.
The Annual Fund plays a vital role in sustaining UAF year in and year out — the Annual Fund represents the combined power of donors giving at all levels. Annual Fund gifts support:
- Student scholarships
- Computer/laboratory equipment
- Special library and departmental acquisitions
- Facility improvements
- Special academic initiatives and projects
- College and school units
- Student organizations
Support from Alumni is vital to the University and Alumni are welcome to support any aspect of the university. Specific to UAFAA, donors may consider support of student scholarships, UAFAA’s unrestricted fund (which is applied to the UAFAA general fund and allows them to make donations to other UAF departments or scholarships), or the Benefactor Fund which supports grants to enhance student and campus life. Learn more about giving to UAFAA via the association's separate 501(c)(3) .
You can also give directly to the UAF college or school of your choice:
The University of Alaska Fairbanks is a state leader in Alaska Native Studies research and teaching and is on track to become a global leader in the field of Indigenous Studies. With increasing local and global demand for expertise in the field of Indigenous Studies and increasing enrollments of Alaska Native and Native American students at UAF, we are building partnerships, planning and investing to champion a path forward that honors Alaska’s First Peoples and prepares us for growth. Learn more about the Troth Yeddha' Legacy Initiative.
Capital funds from generous donors are vital to ensuring the university continues to fulfill its mission of teaching, research and service for generations to come. Should this be a priority to you, please ask the UAF Development and Alumni Relations staff about current capital projects.
