Alyssa came to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2020 from Shingle Springs, California.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Alyssa plans to be a CPA. Despite
the many new experiences Alyssa has encountered since coming to Fairbanks, they have
enjoyed their time here.
Their interest in accounting began through a statistics course in high school. At UAF, Alyssa has gone out of their way to be involved in the school community through the Honors College and the university accounting club, GAAP. They began working at the UAF Office of Alumni Relations in fall 2021. In their free time, Alyssa enjoys listening to music and creating art. They like painting, drawing and crocheting.
Marketing and Social Media Student Specialist
Interests: Basketball, hanging out with friends, and traveling
Ben started attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2021. His initial goal was to pursue a degree in business management, but his passion changed. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in marketing, with a goal of working in social media marketing. Ben is the proud kid of UAF alumni and has two siblings attending UAF.
Ben attended Lathrop High School as a part-time student, and the rest of his studying was done through home school. During his three years of high school, he joined the basketball and rifle teams, both for two years. Ben started college during his senior year in high school. At UAF, Ben decided to pursue a job in marketing, which led him to join the UAF Office of Alumni Relations in spring 2022.
In his free time, Ben enjoys playing basketball, hanging with friends and traveling around the Lower 48.
Outreach and Engagement Student Specialist
Interests: Spending time with family and exploring Alaska
Gus has been attending UAF since 2020, working to earn his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He is a born-and-raised Alaskan who has lived in Fairbanks his entire life. Gus always knew UAF would have a place for him and he is extremely proud to be a student and future alumni.
Since joining the Alumni Relations team in the fall of 2021, Gus feels he has a better understanding of the value of networking and storytelling. He also enjoys being able to assist and participate in alumni engagement events throughout the year.
Gus spends much of his time during the school year working for the UAF Office of Alumni Relations and being a full-time student. However, outside class and work, his interests include spending time with family, exploring Alaska, and doing outdoor projects at his cabin.
