DETAILS/FORMAT

Monthly data for 9 surface meteorological elements (fields 6-14) have been derived from the NCDC daily dataset. 
Monthly corrections for wind-induced undercatch and trace precipitation, total corrected precipitation, and the 
correction factor (fields 15-18) have been calculated from the daily data. 

The data are available from 1973 to 2004. For some periods (days and weeks) data may not be available due to data 
restrictions or communication problems. Information on missing data is presented in the files (fields 19-26). 

Quality control of the daily data has been performed by NCDC (ftp://ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/globalsod/readme.txt). 
All available daily records have been used in this analysis. Ratio of monthly precipitation to its long-term mean has been provided 
(field 28) and can be applied by user to detect the outliers.

The data are in ASCII format with a mixture of character data, real and integer values.

13	snow%:  	The percentage of snowfall.
14	Pg:     	total gauge measured precip (mm) .
15	traceC:  	Total trace correction (mm).
16	windC:   	total corrections for wind undercatch (mm).
17	Pc:      	total corrected precip (mm).
18	CF:      	correction factor (Pc/Pg).
19	TmeaM%:  	The missing % of mean temperature.
20	TmaxM%:  	The missing % of maximum temperature.
21	TminM%:  	The missing % of mininum temperature.
22	PgM%:    	The missing % of Pg.
