Biography:
Dr. Berezovskaya is a Research Assistant Professor in the Water and Environmental Research Center at the Institute of Northern Engineering. She joined the WERC permafrost hydrology group as a Post Doctoral Fellow in 2003. Berezovskaya earned a M.S. (1999) and Ph.D.(2003) in Land Hydrology and Water Resources from the Russian State Hydrometeorological University, St.Petersburg, Russia. During her Ph.D. work, Berezovskaya was awarded a Presidential Fellowship to conduct research within Russian-German project, "The Laptev Sea System", hosted by the Research Center for Marine Geosciences, University of Kiel, Germany, 2000-2001.
Research Interests:
Berezovskaya's research focuses on the role of snow in cold regions hydrology. Current work includes field data collection on Alaska’s Arctic Slope, analysis of observational data, and modeling of snow-related hydrologic processes for the following projects:
IPY Collaborative Research: A Prototype Network for Measuring Arctic Winter Precipitation and Snow Cover (Snow-Net) (National Science Foundation funding)
Hydrologic Analysis and Support for the Alaska Department of Transportation and the Department of Natural Resources on the North Slope Foothills and Bullen Road Projects (State Agency funding)
Collaborative Research: Study of Dam/Reservoir-induced Hydrologic Changes in Siberian Regions (National Science Foundation funding)
