Water and Environmental Research Center
Director's Greeting
Welcome to the UAF Water and Environmental Research Center (WERC). The WERC is, first and foremost, a group of Alaska researchers that share an interest in the physical and hydrologic environment around us. We are comprised of students, staff, and faculty spanning a range of disciplines, including civil/environmental engineering, hydrology, limnology, arctic science/engineering, and isotope chemistry just to name a few.
Our research reflects our broad interests and expertise, and extends from our laboratories on the UAF campus throughout all regions of Alaska and beyond.
In July 2009, I was privileged to begin serving as the new WERC Director. My primary duty in this position is to help facilitate the research efforts of our talented personnel. One of my first goals as director is to reinvigorate the WERC website in order to enhance communication between our research staff and the general public.
We believe that we have a fascinating story to tell, and consider the new website to be a crucial component of our outreach efforts. Attributes of the new website will include comprehensive descriptions of current research projects, a reorganized platform for distributing project and monitoring data, updated pages describing the interests and expertise of our personnel, and procedural information for students or researchers interested in working with the WERC.
Please check back in the coming months as these exciting changes are incorporated into these pages.
