About this location

Cornerstone Plaza is home to the original cornerstone for the Alaska Agricultural College and School of Mines, today the University of Alaska. The Cornerstone was placed in 1915 by Judge James Wickersham.

Cornerstone Plaza is encircled by the Brooks Building, Bunnell Building, Duckering Building, Rasmuson Library and Signers’ Hall. The circle of flags represents many of the states and countries UAF students are from. During warm months, classes may be held here or you may find students studying while enjoying the sun.
