UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER MARCH, 2004
P.O. BOX 81776 FAIRBANKS, ALASKA 99708 www.uaf.edu~uwa

The UWA memoirs are available now in a 21-page edition for $3 (send check,
made out to UWA, to Elizabeth Shapland). I sent a copy to the University
Archives and received back a thank you along with a form to be signed to
make the gift of this document official so that researchers can look at it
and the university could
allow it to be included in publications. For my own contribution, I have no
hesitation about signing this, but I feel a bit uncertain about doing so
when the document includes others' contributions. If anyone has an
objection, please let me know. And if anyone wants to contribute more
memories, please do send them to me. I see these 21 pages as only the
initial collection and would be happy to add more to it. --Elizabeth

March 8 is De Vinci Code. A really good read you just cannot put down.
Will send you to your art books and encyclopedia to double check the facts.
Gael Murakami will be the leader. April 12 - The Book will be Endurance
Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing. This has been the book
selected by the Alaska Center for the Book as the one book all Alaskan
families should read and discuss in book groups and over the dinner table.
The leader will be Wendi Lyons, a new member to our group.

This is a change from the printed list - The book Kitchen Confidential has
been changed to Endurance.

KUAC Needs Volunteers: The men and women of UWA have been very faithful
about answering the phones at KUAC for their pledge drive. We hope to keep
the tradition going by being in the studio on March 11th from 6:45 to 8:30
