INTERNATIONAL DINERS DECEMBER DINNER PARTY!
To make planning easier, UWA's International Diners will be taking a
different approach to their December party:
WHAT? We'll be featuring an International pot luck dinner! Everyone who
comes is asked to bring a dish to share -- whether it be an Italian main
dish, a Greek salad or a Russian dessert! Please bring a little tent label
to identify the country and the name of the dish -- and your name, too, if
you wish, so people can ask you about your recipe.
WHEN? Saturday, December 18, 6pm
WHERE? At the home of Dick and Jo Scott, 2757 College Road at the Wagon
Wheel, next to Labrenz Landscaping. There is room for about 20 cars in this
driveway and there is reserved handicap parking for two cars in front of our
garage doors. ADDITIONAL PARKING is at the corner of College Road and
Caribou Way. It's a well-lit parking lot and you can walk through the gate
there on a path into the Scott's yard -- also well lit.
WHAT TO WEAR? Optional, but it would be fun to have people wear traditional
dress of any country they wish. Otherwise, casual dress is appropriate.
ENTERTAINMENT? For those of you who wish to participate, if you play an
instrument, you are welcome to bring it and join in some informal music
being planned. Others who choose not to sing are welcome to just visit in
the sunroom (or should I say moonroom in the winter??)
RSVP? By Friday, December 17, please, contact us at festival@alaska.net or
by phone 474.8869 so I can get an estimate of how many will be coming. (I
don't need to know what you're bringing.)
We hope to see many of you here for a time of enjoying fellowship with new
and long-time old friends! Feel free to invite someone not a UWA member who
might appreciate being able to get out at this holiday time. - from Dick and
Jo Scott

>From Elizabeth:
Join us for some skiing or walking! We meet three times a week and welcome
newcomers/beginners. We ski on Mondays starting at 1:30 and Fridays
starting at 10:45. There's a short loop that takes about a half hour and
longer versions that extend the outing for another half hour or so. Come
do what suits you. No need to phone ahead: just be at the parking lot by
Ballaine Lake within five minutes of the starting times. We walk on
Thursdays at 10:45 at the Big Dipper for an hour. You can buy a three month
pass ($50; only $15 for those age 60 and over) or a 10-walk punch card ($16
or $10 for seniors) or pay each time ($2.50 or $1). Questions? Call
Elizabeth at 474-4725

>From Cynthia Dorman: “My grandsons are arriving after Christmas for a
week. Is there anyone who has cross-country ski equipment that they won't
be using in sizes for a 10 and 11 yr. old. They are a little small for
their ages. I'm checking shoe sizes, but waiting for a reply.” Call
