UNIVERSITY WOMENS’ ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER APRIL, 2004

P.O. BOX 81776 FAIRBANKS, ALASKA 99708 www.uaf.edu”uwa

We have a new president! In fact we have two of them. Nancy Klammer and
Rita Osborne will be working together for a while, and then Rita has
promised to take over. Congratulations and many thanks to you both!

The year is going by quickly and our days are getting longer much to our
delight. Nancy Klammer and Rita Osborne as vice presidents have agreed to
act as co-presidents for the next few weeks to provide leadership for our
activities. Rita has agreed to be a candidate for President and will accept
if elected at the annual meeting.
Our spring recycle sale usually in April will not be held. We would like to
plan the fall recycle sale in early October and are requesting a couple of
friends be the chairs. There are usually many willing volunteers to help
and this is an important UAF community event. Please consider this and
relay your interest to one of the board members.
The Holiday Bazaar also needs a coordinator. This is a very important event
in our community with many vendors and customers looking forward to it
yearly. It is through the bazaar's revenues that we are able to provide
scholarships. The dates for 2004 are November 6 & 7. There are many willing
volunteers who have worked with the bazaar and are willing to continue.
Please consider this or talk with a couple friends to help coordinate.
Planning starts during the summer.
At our annual meeting in May we'll have the opportunity to make donations to
some our favorite groups. For the past four years we have given money to
KUAC, the UAF Docents, The Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival and the Campus
Childcare Center. Last year that amount was $300 each. We also for the
first time gave $300 to Camp Habitat. These worthy groups need our
continued support even more this year.
Please plan to attend the Annual meeting. We promise you a fun time!
