Admissions
The Office of Admissions strives for quality student service and serves as a gateway to education through pre-admission counseling and recruiting, application processing, transfer credit evaluation, university policy interpretation and community outreach.
Alumni Relations
The UAF Alumni Association is an active network of graduates and former students who support the university and advocate on its behalf. Its alumni mentor program assists students with degree and career planning. The association also offers scholarships and sponsors campus events and projects.
ASUAF
The Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks runs service departments and programs dedicated to the interests and welfare of UAF students. All students enrolled in 3 or more credits are ASUAF members. ASUAF represents UAF students to the university administration, the board of regents and the Alaska Legislature. Officers of ASUAF are selected by the student body in elections held every fall and spring semester.
Athletics
UAF’s basketball, cross country and volleyball teams belong to the Division II Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Division I hockey team is a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, and the women’s swim team belongs to the Pacific Coast Conference. The 10-time NCAA championship rifle team competes in the open class.
Career Services
Career Services assists individuals in identifying and implementing career choices. They provide career counseling, job search and internship advising, and on-campus employer recruiting to UAF students, alumni, staff and faculty.
Development
Development’s mission is to fundraise for the University of Alaska Fairbanks in order to support UAF’s greater mission of education, research and cultural outreach. As part of our shared goal of providing a high-quality education, increasing workforce development, and ensuring a brighter future for all Alaskans, Development is committed to reducing student debt to make education accessible and affordable.
Disability Services
Disability Services provides academic accommodations to UAF students who experience a disability. We welcome individuality and work with students attending our main and community campuses. Disability Services operates an Assistive Technology Lab and produces materials in alternate formats. Arrangements can be made for American Sign Language interpreters, transcription services, braille and audio formats.
Financial Aid
The UAF Financial Aid Office assists students seeking resources to finance their postsecondary education by administering a comprehensive offering of federal, state and institutional aid programs in a student-centered environment.
International Programs and Initiatives
International Programs and Initiatives exists to help students, researchers and faculty access opportunities in international collaboration, whether that is by helping current UAF affiliates go abroad, or by hosting international students, researchers and faculty coming to UAF from overseas.
Judicial Services
Judicial Services strives to create an atmosphere of positive behavioral development for UAF students through understanding of and adherence to local, state and federal laws, along with university policies and regulations. Continuing focus is placed on education as opposed to punitive measures.
KUAC
KUAC-FM and KUAC-TV were the first public radio and television stations in the 49th state. They were established so that Alaskans would have access to the same opportunities as other Americans.
Marketing and Communications
Marketing and Communications leads the efforts to craft and communicate the many stories of UAF. These messages include UAF print and electronic publications for student recruiting, general information and internal and external communications, as well as coordination of the chancellor's messages, directives and presentations.
New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation is designed to welcome and introduce all entering students and their families to UAF. It helps new students make the transition from their previous environment to the diverse academic, intellectual and social culture of the university.
Department of Recreation, Adventure and Wellnes
Recreational opportunities at UAF are organized by DRAW. Activities are housed primarily in the Student Recreation Center, the Patty Ice Arena and the Patty Center.
Registrar's Office
The Registrar's Office provides support and service to the UAF academic and student community through services related to academic records, registration, enrollment data, course and catalog administration, and graduation.
Residence Life
The Department of Residence Life provides living and learning communities that are intended to enhance student success. We provide safe, clean and well maintained facilities that meet the diverse needs of our residents.
Student Health and Counseling
Student Health and Counseling's mission is to help UAF students stay healthy, grow and develop personally, and do as well as they can in their university studies. There are many services available at the center, including medical care, counseling, disability accommodations and assistance with the student insurance plan.
Office of Sustainability
Sustainability involves actions such as designing green, purchasing local foods, reducing emissions, purchasing wisely, educating green, conserving energy and minimizing waste. UAF has done much over the last decade to move towards a move sustainable campus. Many of these efforts have been driven by student enthusiasm and energy. UAF's Office of Sustainability works to create a campuswide network and engage the community in a sustainable future.
Wood Center
The Wood Center's mission is to develop the whole student by creating connections to UAF and the surrounding communities through a variety of programs, services and opportunities.
