Barbara Taylor, Ph.D, is an Associate Professor of Biology in Neuroscience and a Co-Director of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity (URSA). Barbara completed her undergraduate work in Biology at the University of British Columbia, Canada, received a M.S. in Marine Biology in 1990 and a Ph.D. in Marine Biology from the University of British Columbia in 1997. Following postdoctoral positions at the University of Calgary and Dartmouth Medical School, she moved to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2003.
Trent Sutton, Ph.D, is a Professor of Fisheries Biology and an Associate Dean in the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, and a Co-Director of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity (URSA) at UAF. Trent completed his undergraduate education in Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University, and received a M.S. in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University and a Ph.D. in Fisheries Sciences from Virginia Tech. Prior to coming to UAF in 2007, Trent held faculty positions at both Lake Superior State University (1996-2001) and Purdue University (2001-2007).
Kate Pendleton has been the URSA Coordinator since early in 2015. She has worked at UAF since 2007, primarily with bridging programs. At URSA, Kate is tasked with maintaining the student tracking system, organizing URSA events, soliciting grant applications, and assisting the Directors in all URSA activities. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and has lived in Alaska since 1984.
