SUBJECT Campus Flower Planting 1999
LOCATION University of Alaska Fairbanks Campus
DATE & TIME Wednesday, May 26 at 8:30 a.m.
Put on some faded jeans, weave daisies in your hair and crank up Crosby, Stills and Nash flower power is back at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Next Wednesday won't witness a rebirth of the '60s or Woodstock, just the summer season as the UAF College of Fellows brings campus and community members together for the Fifth Annual Campus Flower Planting.
Volunteers are needed to grab their green thumbs and gardening tools to help plant thousands of flowers as a part of this yearly campus beautification effort. Students, faculty and staff and Fairbanks community members should meet in the heart of the UAF campus at Constitutional Hall on May 26 at 8:30 a.m. for plot assignments, tools and refreshments.
The campus flower planting day is organized by the UAF College of Fellows, a support group for UAF, to add color to the campus through an activity reminiscent of the school's agricultural history. The UAF flower plots, along with the Georgeson Botanical Garden which is also located on the UAF campus, are popular destinations for local residents and horticulture hobbyists visiting the Interior during the summer months.
