Explosions, a search for gold, and solving a great mystery. No, this isn't the plot for the next Indiana Jones action adventure sequel it's science at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. UAF's Science Potpourri 1999 will feature experiments and demonstrations about these and other topics at the Natural Sciences Facility open house, Saturday, April 3, from noon to 5 p.m. Interactive experiments for children, exhibits, demonstrations and science shows suitable for all ages will be held during the annual open house hosted by UAF's College of Science, Engineering and Mathematics.
Science Potpourri will also feature four science theater presentations with topics like physics, cold facts about heat, the chemistry of candles and a continuum of rapid chemical reactions titled "Kaboom!"
Free parking for Science Potpourri is available in the lot behind the Natural Sciences Facility, located on Yukon Drive between the upper residence halls and the UA Museum of the North.
