SUBJECT                Alaska Airlines Donates Largest Corporate Gift Ever to UAF Athletics

LOCATION              Carlson Center during UAF Nanooks Hockey Game

DATE & TIME          Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m.

This Friday's hockey game against Lake Superior State is the end of the home season for the University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks, but it marks the beginning of new student scholarships for the UAF athletics department. Alaska Airlines will present a check for $100,000 to UAF on Friday, Feb. 26 at the Carlson Center during the game; half of the gift will endow UAF athletic scholarships and the other half will support the UA Museum of the North. The company's gift is the largest single corporate gift ever to UAF athletics for scholarships, according to UAF Associate Athletics Director Kip Harmon.

During the past few years, Alaska Airlines has donated more than a quarter million dollars to UAF through a continuing partnership that has benefited the UA Museum of the North, athletics department and tourism projects. Alaska Airlines Vice President of Public Affairs Bill Mackay will present the check to UAF Chancellor Joan Wadlow between the first and second periods of the game.
